Photos and Summer Gig Schedule

Pooch head stars

Today we not only have a rehearsal we also have to take photos for the upcoming CD release.  Not my favorite thing to do but necessary to promote the materials.  I have hired a professional photographer instead of the usual DIY photos we usually use.  So today he’s gonna take pics during rehearsal and then after as well.  I hope to get some good stuff given he’s taking photos of me… But I digress.  The big day is only 3 months away and lots to do before the “Official Release.”  No worries.

We have six great shows this summer.  Make sure you come on out and enjoy one of our live gigs.   We venture out of state a couple of times as well.  Like us on Facebook and keep up with our travels and gigs.

First day of school, recently added gig and life in general

So yesterday was my daughters first day of school.  She was quite excited as her new teacher was the assistant teacher she had last year.  She got out of school and told my wife in the car the Second grade is funner than first grade!  I am glad she is quickly making the adjustment to the new school year.  My hope is that classes continue beyond this Friday as the Chicago Teachers Union may go on strike on September 10th.  Hopefully the teachers and administration can figure it out and cooler heads prevail and the kids stay in school.

So the last gig we had got rained out.  The St. Helen Carnival was a no go for us.  We were ready but alas no one wants to get electrocuted for their art. A total dissapointment.   But late last week I got a call from my friend Phil asked if we would be available to play at Norwood Park Fest.  It seems another friend Joe mentioned us and Phil called immediately.  Joe plays in a great cover band called Imposter Radio and Phil sings for Strain Busy Sky.  Both are excellent and worth coming to see.  Its Saturday, September 22 starting at noon.  When we go on stage will be announced soon.  Stay tuned and come on out for a great time!

So that where things stand right now.  The CD has been on an August break due to the fact John and Alton have been taking time for their families and what not…SLACKERS! (not hardly)  Hopefully we return to the studio soon to record one more song and get to editing and mixing.  So stay tuned…

Upcoming gig, scheduling and the CD

The Poochamungas take to the stage in little over a week at the St. Helen Carnival.  Sunday, August 26th at noon we take to the stage in our usual fashion and will we playing new material as well.   We’re looking to have a really good time.  Come on out if you can and follow this St. Helen Carnival Link for tickets and more info.

It was once said that trying to run a band is like herding cats.  It’s a good analogy. Since we play in the band mostly for fun it’s not the first commitment of the band members.  It’s usually in this order… Family (including kid schedules), Job, Health, Home and then Band.  So it can get crazy time to time but you just have to persevere and work through it.  We did just have a nice rehearsal getting ready for the upcoming gig and I even managed a couple of photos.

So we also managed to make it back to Kingsize Sound Labs and record some vocals.  At this point we need to add one more full song and overdubs and vocals to  thealready recorded songs.  It’s really sounding good!  If your interested in a sneak peek send an email to poochamungas@yahoo.com and I’ll send you a rough copy of My favorite summer day.  It’s a song about block parties and we’ll be performing it at the upcoming St. Helen Carnival.  Be sure to stop by the stage and say hi!
